Just Another Manic Monday

    Good Afternoon,

Today was just like the song, "Just another manic Monday..." in Miss Owens' room. Due to the bookfair, face painting, and pajama day, we had a Monday that felt like we were on a roller-coaster ride! Allow me to remind you that the book fair will be going on all week and end this Friday at 12:00. You may send your child's book fair money with them and I will put it in a baggie for them to have whenever they choose to use it. Face painting will be available again on Friday. The cost per side is 50 cents.

Aside from all the madness today, we actually did learn a thing or two. We started with learning the letters S, R, F, A, T, and D. These letters were introduced to the students and we practiced them all throughout the day. We worked on the sounds that the make and writing them on our handwriting paper. All throughout the day we went back and reviewed the letters. Remember, the more exposure the children get to these letters, the more familiar they will become. So please practice these letters with your children at home! Simply picking out objects that begin with those letters and asking the sounds of each letter will be a great start.

After lunch, we worked on our numbers and counting. We practiced counting from 1 all the way to 10 today. We also practiced counting numbers in groups. Then we worked on numbering items as first, second, third, etc. This is a simple tool that can also be practiced and reviewed at home. When there is a group of items, ask them to count how many there are. Lay items in a line and ask your child to point out which one is first, second, third, and so on.

TONIGHT'S HOMEWORK: Finish alphabet worksheet in the homework folder. Have first page of the Math packet (front and back) completed by tomorrow.

As always, please let me know any questions or concerns that you may have. I am always here to help and want to be on the same page as you all! Thank you for your continued support!
